Ever since a dog (a Pomeranian to be exact) belonging to someone infected with Coronavirus tested ‘weakly positive’ to the virus in Hong Kong, there’s been a cloud over whether pets could be infected or even transmit the virus. Now we have the official answer...
With no other evidence aside from that test result from what quickly became the most famous dog in the world (we don’t even know his name!), the future of dogs hung in the balance! But finally, some good news.
The World Health Organisation has announced there is NO evidence pets can be infected. In fact, the thinking is now that the now famous Hong Kong dog had residual virus particles sitting in his nostrils that he’d sniffed up from his corona filled apartment. But they weren’t causing an infection. As such, dogs are no longer subject to suspicion or quarantine requirements. And with that announcement, cue this gem of a realisation...
