The truth about coronavirus, pets and these masks

Here’s everything you need to know about Coronavirus and pets. Including whether your little mate needs to be wearing one of these... 😳

With sales of dog face masks skyrocketing and images of these cat masks now appearing online, you’d be forgiven for thinking dogs and cats are in danger. But all
studies (and now the World Health Organisation) agree that pets can neither contract nor transmit the virus. In short, there is no risk. And arguably no need for face-masks.

The fact dogs and cats can’t be infected hasn’t stopped nearly 50,000 pets from being trapped inside Wuhan Province’s exclusion zone during the outbreak which has killed over 1,000 people and infected around 43,000.

The viral strain, now known as Covid-19, may have originated in bats and spread through pangolins to humans where it causes intense flu like signs and pneumonia.
