The Australian outback can be a harsh and lonely place. But this wild emu named Fred has taken matters into his own hands. He's adopted a central Queensland farming family and it's all kinds of adorable...
It all began two weeks ago when the McArthurs were out mustering cattle. Fred stumbled across the family and followed them home. And ever since, he's been living his best life hanging around the homestead picking mulberries and pecking at the fairy lights.
But just why he's chosen the family is a mystery. While older male emus can often live a solitary life away from their mob, the fact he's chosen humans for company may suggest he's lost contact with his own family. Making Fred a big bird with an even bigger (and fragile) heart...
